  8. AmberRAM is a replacement for the AmigaDOS RAM disk.

  10. Advantages over the original RAM disk include:
  11.  
  12.   - Long filenames (up to 107 characters).
  13.   - Provides accurate information about space utilisation.
  14.   - Isn't always 100% full. Free memory is included in disk size.
  15.   - More space efficient.
  16.   - Respects a file's R and W flags.
  17.   - Notification is fully supported.
  18.   - Allows deletion of hard-linked, non-empty directories.
  19.   - Can be write-protected.
  20.   - Supports ACTION_SET_FILE_SIZE correctly.
  21.   - Can be dismounted.

  23. Disadvantages include:

  25.   - Directories can't be created from Workbench.
  26.   - "Disk full" requester is never displayed.
  27.   - Record locking is unsupported.
  28.   - ExamineAll() is unsupported, but is emulated by dos.library.
